Jaguar El Jefe, “the boss,” as coined by Tucson AZ middle schoolers, is an adult male jaguar spotted near Tucson in the Santa Rita and Whetstone Mountains and Sonora, Mexico.

He was the first Jaguar to migrate back into his ancestral land and is one of only a handful of jaguars seen around the U.S.-Mexico borderlands since their populations dwindled more than 50 years ago.
