OR-93
At one time, was home to wild Wolf packs. From Gray Wolves to Mexican Red Wolves, these creatures played an important role in the ecosystems that make our golden state naturally nourished. Agriculture consumption rates, housing developments, and hunting these powerful predators has diminished our wild Wolf population.
In 2021, one lone male Wolf from Oregon ventured over 500 miles and, for the first time in over 100 years, a wild Gray Wolf named OR-93 began to call California home. OR-93 was struck by a vehicle and killed in 2022. Scientists believe that his scent trail may be leading more of his kind from the North into the Golden State.
